Banfield Family Territorial Defense Part 5

Inside Liam’s mansion on the Banfield Family’s home planet, Rosetta was receiving a report from Klaus.

“The enemy’s main force is attacking?”

‘Yes. Some of our defenses have already been breached. Based on the path they’re taking, we’re certain they’re headed for the main planet.’

The General Staff was confident in their prediction that the enemies were targeting their home planet.

“An army of three million…”

‘And that’s a conservative estimate. They’ve received reinforcements, and their number has increased.’

Klaus remained calm throughout his report, but Rosetta could sense that he was more nervous than usual.

Judging from his behavior, she foresaw a tough battle on the horizon.

After a moment of thought, she looked up.

“I won’t beat around the bush. —Can we win?”

Rosetta sought an objective answer. Realizing this, Klaus provided an honest response.

‘It would be a miracle if we could, which is why I’d like to advise Lady Rosetta to flee.’

Hearing this, Rosetta steeled herself.

“—And what about Darling? Have you heard from him?”

‘No. However, we have yet to receive any report of his defeat. Otherwise, the enemies would have undoubtedly spread the word.’

They had been unable to contact Liam, leaving Rosetta with the difficult decision of whether to flee or not.

But there was something holding her back from making an escape.

“Rumors about the enemies capturing Darling have been circulating.”

There were whispers that the enemy subjugation force had managed to defeat Liam, who had been actively moving around on the battlefield.

Klaus denied these claims.

‘The enemies must be spreading lies. The Empire would have made an official announcement if it was true. Since they haven’t, their words can’t be trusted.’

Defeating Liam would be considered a monumental achievement in the Empire.

If the enemy had succeeded, they would’ve made a huge announcement, using the opportunity to praise Cleo.

The absence of such announcements proved that Liam was still safe.

The Empire could have made a false announcement if they so wished, but their credibility would plummet once it was proven to be wrong.

Hence, unless there was solid evidence, the Empire wouldn’t make an official statement.

“Bad rumors are circulating among the people of the territory, and it’s becoming a problem. Government offices are constantly being flooded by inquiries asking for confirmation of their safety.”

Klaus’ expression turned bitter, realizing what she meant.

‘—Nevertheless, as a knight of the Banfield Family, I must request that you flee. As long as Lady Rosetta and Lord Edward are alive, the Banfield Family can be revived as many times as necessary.’

Klaus said this in his capacity as the Head Knight. However, Rosetta could only offer a sad smile in response.

“If I were to leave right now, the territory would be thrown into chaos. The military wouldn’t want that either, right?”

‘—But…’

If the citizens raised up a storm on the planet that they were supposed to protect, the military would be affected as well.

It was indeed undesirable for someone in his position.

Rosetta informed Klaus of her final decision.

“I will remain on the planet to reassure the people. However, I will prepare for Edward’s escape. If the worst comes to pass, please assist him.
